Modere: Is “Sharing the Love” Really Enough for This MLM? [Review]

modereWhen you see this MLM’s website, you’ll be hooked…

The products are attractive. Modere seems dedicated to creating a business that’s good for you and the Earth. And every purchase feeds a child.

Still, you have to wonder how simply sharing the love can help you rise through the ranks.

Modere is a multi-level marketing company that sells personal care and common household products. The company was founded in 1987 as Images and Attitudes… was renamed Neways International in 1992… relaunched in 2015 as Modere.

They seem to be honestly dedicated to their values: Modere has its own manufacturing facility that operates solely on wind power, and they sell their products primarily through social networking websites.

The company is off to a promising start and has a chance to establish itself as a strong and trustworthy company.

FAQ

1. What does Modere sell? Modere sells health and wellness, personal care, and household care products that give you safe, effective, clean label options on the products you use every day. Their goal is to help you reduce or eliminate your exposure to controversial chemicals, so your family can be safe and healthy in the home environment.

2. What are Modere’s most popular products? Modere has a unique line of anti-aging products: Mineral Supplement leads the way, with over $1 billion in sales. Collagen Sciences products are relatively new — they support joint, muscle and connective tissue health; counteract skin photoaging; restore youthful skin; and support healthy hair, nails, gums, and eyes. The Lean Body Sculpting System includes products that burn fat and promote lean body composition.

3. How much does it cost to join Modere? Step 1 is to choose your Starter Kit (the least expensive costs $49.99). Step 2 is choosing your standing monthly order. There are 5 options, most of which are $99.99.

5. What is Modere’s BBB rating? B

[2] In 2018, a lawsuit was filed against Modere by Jessie Lee Ward for defamation, emotional distress, interference with business relations, and conspiracy. [3]

Either way, here’s the full review on Modere.

Products

Modere has a rather large collection of products, most of which fall into one of three categories:

  • Personal Care – Several lines of personal care products, including those specifically designed for skin, hair, body, and mouth care, as well as a line designed for men.
  • Health & Wellness – Several lines of health and wellness products with a focus on anti-aging, weight management, active health, and several more targeted areas of health and nutrition.
  • Household Care – A smaller collection of products, but one that includes laundry detergent, kitchen cleaning products (see: Norwex or Amway), and more.

Compensation Plan

Modere invites consumers of its products to become part of the company as representatives — known as “Social Marketers” who share the love. These marketers pay a startup cost of $49.99 but are encouraged to buy an Ultimate Collection package for $699.99. Buying this package increases the number of ways that marketers can earn income from the company.

The full compensation plan offered by Modere is quite extensive and rather complicated. Part of the reason for this is because there is no shortage of bonus and incentive programs set up by the company, including the following:

  • Customer POD Bonus
  • Promoter Development Bonus
  • First Order Bonus & Get 3 Doubler
  • Monthly Team Builder Bonus
  • Generational Unilevel
  • Dynamic Team Leader & Director Bonus
  • 4 & More Elite Bonus
  • Leadership Development Bonus
  • Coded Mentor Bonus
  • Power Bonus

Marketers also take part in a points system in which they can earn gifts, free shipping, product samples, and other incentives.

Here are some pros about Modere:

One part of Modere that stands out above most other multi-level marketing companies is its transparency. The company has an in-house Lifestyle Advisory Board that examines the company’s products and makes recommendations on any changes that need to be made on a yearly basis.

Modere also floods its website with information about its products, as well as advice for customers who use them or are considering using them. This is definitely a rarity in the multi-level marketing industry, and this kind of transparency by Modere is a great effort by such a young company to build trust with potential consumers.

Modere also stands out in the stance it takes on important issues that companies often overlook. The company is strict about not placing any potentially harmful ingredients in its products, which is not something that can be said about all multi-level marketing firms, especially those that sell health and wellness products.

Modere is also committed to selling its products in packaging that’s 100% recyclable, making them a company that’s eco-friendly [4].

Finally, the bonus and incentive programs Modere offers its independent marketers beyond profits from retail sales is quite impressive. For instance, each month the company chooses one marketer to win a Lifetime Experience. This can include premium access to concerts or sporting events, a skydiving trip, six months worth of massages, access to a personal stylist, and among other options that are equally amazing. This is on top of the vast array of bonuses and other perks the company offers to its top-performing marketers.

Here are some cons about Modere:

The downside of Modere’s compensation plan is that it can be difficult to make a meaningful amount of money for those who are new to multi-level marketing or only have a casual interest in it. Commissions on retail sales are modest at best and will force marketers to grow a large customer base to make money.

There are also auto-ship requirements for those marketers unable to reach a certain volume of sales, which is difficult for MLM newcomers to afford. On top of that, the Plus Collection package, which the company says is the most popular enrollment kit, costs $499.99, which is on the high end compared to other MLM companies.

In addition to some of the difficulties those new to multi-level marketing may experience with Modere, there’s little evidence that the company provides any kind of training to its marketers.

This isn’t all that surprising for a company that’s young and still trying to find its place, but without any kind of training or guidance outside of telling marketers to get their family and friends on board, it will be difficult to rise through the ranks of Modere and take advantage of its exciting compensation plan.

Finally, and not so surprisingly, there is little information about Modere available online, so it’s difficult to assess whether it’s a company you want to work with.

There are some negative reviews of the company that suggest customer support isn’t reliable. And because of these reviews, the Better Business Bureau has only given it a rating of B.

Add to that the lawsuits that have piled up over the last few years, and you have to wonder if Modere has ethical business standards you can trust.

The fact that so little information is available from the Better Business Bureau and elsewhere online is a bit puzzling, especially when you consider that Modere conducts so much of its business through social media sites. A company that’s actively pursuing a social media presence should have more information about it available online.

Recap

Joining a young company like Modere is almost always going to be a risky venture, simply because there isn’t enough feedback from those within the company.

From what we can gather, Modere’s compensation plan is not conducive to someone who’s new to multi-level marketing or someone who lacks proper sales and marketing training. However, those that do such skills might have a decent opportunity to advance in a company that offers plenty of bonus opportunities and unique incentives.

Just don’t expect to get rich from this gig. There are better options if you are looking to make sustainable money…

I’ve only recently heard of Modere, started doing some research because I am involved with a couple MLM’s currently but in a couple reviews it’s being said that Modere was known as Neways… a company that’s been around for many years and that they decided to revamp basically. Do you know how true that is? Thank you

    • Jeremy Page Feb 23, 2017, 11:49 am

      Yes, that would be correct.

  • Rob May 26, 2017, 2:49 pm

So, what is the monthly fee or required purchases from me if I was a partner? Say I joined to build a biz but didn’t have any customers for a while, what am I required to pay every month?

    Thank you.

    • Stephanie Mefford Jun 25, 2017, 1:00 pm

No fee and no required auto ship.

I was a IRep for Liquid BioCell prior to the Modere purchase.
Our compensation plan was amazing, as was the customer service. We never had issues with back orders and long hold times when calling customer service.
My clients are having a difficult time getting Collagen Science products, they are dealing with rude customer service personnel and bottles of BioCell being broken upon delivery.
The quality of the Collagen Science part of Modere (liquid biocell) has lost its value and intergrity of what once was.
I sent Modere an email a few months ago with regard to my concerns and never heard from them.
This is not a very good indication of the type of company Liquid BioCell is in bed with.

      Interesting, thanks for your input

As a former Jusuru irep too, Ditto on the customer service. Also, product quality of the original liquid biocell has slipped. No longer seems to be working. Less product, higher price, and also had many issues with the quality of the products received, billing error issues, failure to apply discounts as advertised, and the compensation plan is so convoluted and confusing, that i no longer receive “any” commissions for any sales in my downline.

You don’t need to be in a monthly autoship!

  • Stephanie Mefford Jun 25, 2017, 12:59 pm

I just began working with Modere as a Social Marketer 3 weeks ago. Not sure how you received your information about low pay and little training.. I have sat up til midnight completing suggested trainings. Which has helped me grow my business. Not only have u already lost 15 lbs using the M3 system, but I’ve made over $1000 in three weeks, made new friends and have gained knowledge that will help.me in all aspects of my life. Sounds like your article is based on 2nd hand information and not facts. I’ve been involved with many MLM’s in the past and Modere is by far the best!

I disagree, Modere’s compensation plan is one of the best out there. There is so much support and training in this company. I have been in others and none compare to Modere. There are no auto-ships needed at all, they are there IF you wish to take it but no one is forced to.

  • D Jul 26, 2017, 3:02 am

Thanks for sharing. A friend recently introduced me to this company.

  • Toni Ann Aug 7, 2017, 3:49 am

I am concerned about the product costs to customers. The collections seem expensive. I am wondering if it’s possible to be successful without rich friends?

    • Jeremy Page Aug 11, 2017, 8:05 pm

The odds are definitely stacked up against you.

    • Andrea Sep 20, 2017, 8:34 am

My sister has just become a Modere rep about 2 months ago, and I’ve started using a lot of the products. I’m a single mum working part time, so a low income family, and I find the cost ok. A lot of the products like cleaners and personal care (shampoo conditioner etc) last a lot longer than other brands, as smaller quantities are used 🙂

    • Doreen Jun 26, 2018, 2:42 am

I have a family member in this now and i checked prices one time and way to much for a fixed income for sure. I was wanting to do the liquid bio cell and a few others that she has been using and helping her health in which I to need but with prices I guess I will suffer through.

I’ve done MLM research and I’m also considering 1 other, Neolife. Modere has MANY trainings through One Voice and other training systems for their Social Marketers. So the training information with Modere, written by you, should be updated. The other thing is the Modere community is hugely supportive. I was in a couple MLM’s over 15 yrs ago, that failed and closed, and support was terrible. The thing I’m having a challenge with is getting people to be Social Marketers with me…to come aboard our team. There is investment in any business or hobby. I fast tracked with a $75 investment alongside voluntarily purchasing the cleaning system and Trim. How would I be able to market and speak to the efficacy of the products if I didn’t try some out myself, right? Solving problems & selling the product is easy, because most of the product line is dang fabulous honestly. I can write that because I started as a customer. In the meantime, I’m learning more outside the Modere trainings in order to strengthen my knowledge about building mindful business teams.

Yea here’s the thing weight loss supplements do not have to be regulated by the fda which means that they could be putting cow crap in their supplements and giving it to people and because they don’t have to be regulated they could get off Scott free. It’s huge in white color crime and chances are if a company changed and revamped their entire name and everything it’s because of shady business practices that almost took them under of the “new company” didn’t change it for them. I really wish everyone just paid closer attention to what we are putting in our bodies, there is no miracle drug that will make you lose weight! I have years of experience with these issues even at one time working on salary for one so I do know what goes on behind closed doors. I have also seen the criminal justice side of it with people getting off the hook literally killing thousands of people from supplements and guess what nothing happens to them other than they become rich. On top of that I have worked with the effects of these products I have spoke to the people whose lives have been destroyed surgery after surgery trying to repair the damage done by taking supplements that they didn’t know the first thing about. I don’t trust this product because of everything that I know about companies like this. Even if this post is hated on I don’t care because if one person will be saved by reading it then I am happy. Beware and watch what you do. Also if you need a monthly subscription to it what happens when you can’t afford it any longer or you forget to take it consistently? If something was good for our bodies God would have put it on earth. If you want to lose weight watch what the health on Netflix and go vegan that will do it. You only have one body please stop destroying it!

    • JP Apr 10, 2018, 2:54 am

      Right idea. Little extreme, though.

Of course, weight loss supplements aren’t the “end all”.

But science supports that they can help. It’s probably more like a 5% boost, and most people don’t want to realize that.

A former Jusuru iRep making enough to offset the cost of my purchases, but when Modere took over, have not made a red cent! The compensation plan is so convoluted, the few people I had in my downline dropped out and the So called “points” or credits are calculated just right so you are forced to make a purchase to “qualify” , AND… the Jusuru Liquid Biocell was awesome, my whole family has tried it, and could see AND feel the difference. When Modere took over, they “claim” they “concentrated” the formula, charge same price for half as much product… AND it no longer works! I personally can feel the difference! My hands and knees started aching again (I had been PAIN FREE for over TWO years!) and I could actually SEE my skin getting worse day by day! Found a better product Liqui-vie on amazon for less than half the price, and after a week drinking it I can already feel the difference!
